Nice People Make The World Go Round

Had a great meeting on Friday 13th (of all days) with entrepreneur and racing driver, Simon Dolan.
And I have to say, what a genuinely nice guy, very friendly and down to earth, it was a very productive day for me. Very happy with the results that came from it, and has given me the motivation - through all this cold weather - to kick myself into gear.
I'll be the first to admit, i've been a little lazy lately, but we all have our down points, no..?
So it's Monday afternoon, sun is shining, and i'm tapping away in the Uni library - let's kick this machine into gear, we've got a long journey ahead of us.

The Big Exquisite Corpse Experiment

My friend Floyd Hayes from Cunning, NY has just launched a new project, TheBigExquisiteCorpseExperiment, where you upload a body part of your own, a friend, a colleague, or even a pet, on to the site, to be used in an online mix-up slide show / random body part generator. You have to see it for yourself, it's great!

Please upload your own body parts and pass on the link.

Could You Blag £1,000,000?

Got introduced to this brilliant website by a friend of mine recently - I think the concept is amazing!
Check it out: www.blagamillion.com

A group of friends, spending their summer trying to blag a million pounds in various ways to try and raise money to potentially set up an independent fund to in order to back wild 'risque' projects from talented young filmmakers, artists and fruitcakes!
It's a brilliant cause, and looks like they've had a lot of fun in the process.
I won't ruin the ending and tell you whether they managed it or not, but there are lots of funny videos to check out on there showing the different things they have done in order to raise the funds, such as the smallest music festival ever, and their potential number one single they have recorded with famed Chicken Man from Britain's Got Talent.

Please check it out and enjoy! It's a great idea with a great cause behind it.

My First Publication

Ok, so it might not be much, but I was recently asked to submit a piece on an article in our University's newspaper. I happily agreed, and actually had a lot of fun writing it!
The article is on stripping - I know, why would I know anything about that?! - it was a submission about my opinion on it.

I personally am indifferent to the industry, and believe people should just do what makes them happy; as long as they are careful and safe! That's the main thing!

I'll try and get a scan up on here as soon as it's published, I'm actually quite excited to see it!

Road Safety Campaigns Are Dead

New brief from the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue department due for December time.
Brainstorming has been interesting, considering the majority of incidents fire fighters get called out for now are actually Road Traffic Collisions (RTC's).
But has this been done to death..? As bad as it sounds, I'm completely bypassing the topic of drunk driving as to be honest, what hasn't already been said that people don't know about.

But all in all, a really good brief, and good that it could end up as a potential safety campaign in the Bucks region.
It's nice to have an incentive.

Can you buy extra RAM for your brain anywhere...?

So, busy busy couple of months, but that's never a bad thing, as tiring as it might be!

Had mega success at the Freshers Fayre last week, setting up the Bucks Young Entrepreneur Society, with over 100 people signing up to be members - so that's all very exciting. In talks with getting meetings set up, potential committee members, lecturers, business days, networking with Oxford Brookes Women In Business Society.
So very exciting stuff!

Also had first day of my last year at uni today, lots of work on with that, so it's time to knuckle down! joyous times!
It's only Monday, and already my brain hurts.. good sign of the year to come i'm guessing!

Got That Internship Feeling....

Returned home last Saturday from my 2 week Internship at New York based agency, Cunning. (www.cunning.com)
I can't really express just how amazing it was, both travelling all that way on my own, and actually working within a real industry-based agency.
I've definately grown a whole lot from it, and learnt so much stuff from the whole experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Cunning were great though - super friendly and talented group of people, made me feel immediately welcome, I was very sad to leave after my 2 weeks were up. But on the upside - they have said I'm welcome back any time I like, so I shall certainly be returning back as soon as I can get the funds together, for sure!

Not really had much of a chance to talk to everyone else on how their placements went, as Monday back at uni was a bit of a doss (spending an hour filling out a feedback form about our placement) - GEE fun times! haha great start to come back on!
Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more interesting.

It's done me a lot of good though - I woke up this morning with an overwhelming motivation to do work! WOW! haha so I'm hoping this extra energy a zest stays!

I Love NY!

MGBI

So - yesterday was the Stage 2 of the 'My Great Business Idea' competition run by the University. It was a brilliant day - and really good fun!
I made it into the top 6 out of 14 entrants, but unfortunetely didn't make the top 3. But I had an amazing day, and met loads of really positive and enthusiastic people, which just put me on a high.

Also met Sarah Lu - a previous Dragon's Den victim, who secured an investment on the show with Deborah Meaden, with YouDoDolls - and who is also a graduate from Bucks New University. She was amazing - and did a really inspirational speech on how far she has come as an entrepreneur, and advice she can give other people wanting to do the same thing. It was really engaging, and refreshing.
I got chatting to her, and she is such an engaging individual, and very positive about everyone's business - and willing to help in any way possible. So good luck to her with her future ventures!

Had a job interview today - which was also good! So hopefully I might be employed by the end of the day - just have to wait around for the phonecall.

twitter twatter

So, I'm all for the social networking, so obviously I would sign straight up to twitter.com as soon as I found out what it was.

Man, I'm a geek.

Anyway, it's basically kind of like a live blog where people can post comments straight away as soon as you update.. you update with what you're doing/how you're feeling, etc... like a status update website? - yeah that's probably the best way to describe it.

I also didn't realise how popular it was, with lots of celebrities updating on their regularly, with Stephen Fry being an active member amongst many others.

www.twitter.com/LeanneLeveaux if anyone fancies it..

The Strangers "Beautiful" Camera

A personal project I am currently working on outside of University based around the concept of freedom, points of view, and opinions.
The concept is simple - I mailed a disposable camera and covering letter out to a complete stranger, who by way of letter, was asked to take one photograph on the camera of something he/she considered beautiful.
They were then requested to send it on to someone else, who then had to do the same thing, and so on.
The person who takes the final photograph on the camera is requested in the covering letter to then return the package to the return address, where I can then get the film developed and see what gems lie on it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what I get back, and it will be very interesting to see just what different people consider 'beautiful'.
I will keep you updated on the results as and when I get them back.

In the meantime, I have a second disposable camera which I am thinking of handing out to someone when I go to New York next week, to see if they will do the same thing. I just need a subject matter for this one. So any suggestions are welcome!
